City Theatre at Sacramento City College seeks submissions for its
2nd Local Playwrights Festival
“In a Park in Sacramento”
City Theatre at Sacramento City College is looking for scripts to produce in its second Local Playwrights Festival: In a Park in Sacramento. This Festival, open to all playwrights who live in or have lived in Sacramento, will focus on what it means to live in Sacramento. Performances of the chosen scripts will take place in January and February of 2008.
Plays must be written by playwrights who live in or have lived in the Sacramento area, and must not have been performed elsewhere or published. Plays must be twenty-five to thirty minutes in length, and they must be set in a non-specific Sacramento park. The set will consist of two park benches. There will be no other furniture or scenery. Plays must use four to five characters, primarily in their early twenties to mid-thirties. Plays must be set in modern day, and must be able to be costumed with primarily actors’ own clothes.
Scripts must be received by Monday, October 1st. Scripts will be chosen by mid October, and rehearsals will begin in late October. Performances are January 18 through February 3, 2008. Scripts will be selected based on whether they fit the given criteria, and on how well they belong in Sacramento.
Scripts should be sent to Luther Hanson, City Theatre, Sacramento City College, 3835 Freeport Blvd., Sacramento, CA, 95822. For further information or questions, please call 558-2173. Visit us at www.citytheatre.net for more information.
